Follow Me On My Journey Through My Masters Of Health Studies at Athabasca University
ABOUT ME
Hello and Welcome! I am Brittany Burian and I'm a student of the Athabasca University Masters of Health Studies program. I grew up on a beef farm in Southern Ontario and I moved to Sudbury, Ontario in 2007 to pursue my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I am currently employed as a Registered Nurse in a Cardiac Medical Step-down Unit in Sudbury and I have previous experience as a Registered Nurse in the Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical program. For the past nine years I have also taught nursing students pharmacology, pathophysiology, nursing theory, and clinical placements. Teaching is my passion and I enjoy watching the students grow and develop into their best professional selves. I have also taken courses in coronary care, diabetes education, statistics, and others throughout my ten years as a Registered Nurse.
In Ontario all nurses are governed by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) which is the regulatory body responsible for the acts in which nurses must abide by and the ethics in which nurses must uphold. Nurses are held accountable for their practice by the CNO. The Registered Nurses Association of Ontario is a voluntary organization in which nurses can belong to that provides additional education, support and governance/ recommendations for the future scope of nursing. Please see their links on the home page for further details!
Nursing is a dynamic and ever-evolving career in which many options are available. My goal with the Masters of Health Studies program is to extend my knowledge and to continue to open doors with learning for myself and others.
